Stepvan,Grumman,Breadvan??? I’m trying to see what’s out there on the classifieds and I’m not coming up with many results at all. I thought it was a Stepvan but most of the results I find is when I look up Grumman. To my understanding Grumman was just one of the many companies that made bodies for these chassis?
If I knew what to look up I might find more results.

I always just call these
The Up in Smoke Van.

I think that body style is usually referred to as a Step Van or Delivery.

the “official” name depends on where you live, who made it, and who uses it. “Step Van” used to be the model name for the one Chevrolet sold. UPS, on the other hand, calls their delivery vans “package cars.”

I always say delivery van but I’ve heard step van used too.

Step van is in the title of most of the ads that came up, but I got a lot of hits on the old craigslist searching for “food truck”

The vast majority of aluminum body step van/delivery van units are made by
Morgan Olson
, historically Grumman Olsen or Grumman for short.

Step van.

Step Van. I think Grumman is kind of like calling all copy machines Xerox machines. Breadvan is slang, I guess.

Actually you are right. If I search food truck I get loads of hits. All stuff like “would make great food truck” ect.
Can’t believe I did not think of it.

That’s what I thought too.

yup I’ve seen grumman and grumman/olson.

yeah that’s what I was seeing. It either said this is NOT a food truck or this would make a great food truck, either way it’s the shape you’re looking for. Not sure if you need the side window like a food truck would have

Utilimaster also makes these, just something else to try searching.

I just noticed the tag. You want to make one of these into an RV, don’t you?

I think that one is a Kurbmaster, judging by the "hood" ornament/badge. No clue who makes those, though.

Try searching for “ P30 van “- that’s the underlying chassis for most of them and does well in search results.

After our trailer conversation, I did some head maths and made the connection :)
It’s an interesting idea. They have a lot of space. The downside to that over a trailer is you have to maintain another vehicle. They probably are rough rides too. I’m not trying to talk you out of it, because I think it would be cool, just something to think about.

Also, it’s totally going to make me look at them, despite what I said.

For me it’s the exact opposite. My old truck is not up to do some major travelling and being a single cab makes it not too great for family use. So essentially I have nothing to properly tow a trailer with and for me in Alberta it cost next to nothing to run a whole other vehicle.
$85/year for the license plate
~$150/year for insurance
That’s it. We have no smog or safety inspections or anything like that.
The only other cost is the gas and whatever upkeep.
Insurance and plates for a trailer would cost about the same.
On the plus side you could always set it up as a rolling meth lab for supplemental income on the off season.

Makes sense.
I don’t think I could handle the fumes of a meth lab. I even get headaches from deisel fumes now. I’ve turned into such a pansie in my old age.

I know, right! You’ll have that killer van body riding on top of one of the best and most reliable truck platforms of all time. Unfortunately it is not nearly within my budget, nor do I have room for a van THAT big.
